In recent years, the health sector had to deal with an increasingly widespread and sophisticated cyber threat which has highlighted a general inadequacy of the capacity and level of cybersecurity in the sector.

The cyber risk is linked to two concomitant trends: on the one hand we are witnessing the growing widespread integration of technologies, digitalization and innovative hospital models such as computerized medical records, automation of care pathways, customization of therapies and pervasive dissemination of IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) devices. However, the updating and innovation processes of cybersecurity practices are struggling to follow the pace of technological innovations.
